Postnatal Depression

Postnatal Depression (PND) affects about 1 in every 7 women who give birth in Australia each year.

Many women experience the ‘baby blues’ in the first few days after having a baby, this feeling passes in a day to two and is different from PND. PND is a depression that comes on within 12 months of having a baby. It can start slowly or suddenly, and can range from mild to severe and lingering. Some mums will need professional help.
